Jesus Christ, were some of you watching the same game as me? Played some lovely stuff at times, midfield dominated an admittedly poor Halifax and we were the better side for 80 minutes. But!!! you have to take your chances and our shot count must've been in double figures even before half time. If we'd taken even a quarter of our chances then the odd mistake wouldn't matter, but they had about three chances and took one while we had about fifteen and only worked the keeper once. Thats exactly what people are saying Daveu, we huff an puff but we still end up with sod all. No goals = No points.. Play as good as you like for 80 mins but unless we score more than the opposition we will end up losers. And I cannot see us scoring we were poor an lacked any signs of quality or anyone that could split the Halifax defence open.

Who are these players then?? last night out of our match squad of 16 I wouldnt class any as being even close to excellent. Other than Turgott and maybe at a push Wishart, none of our lot would get in the squad of a top team in this league. What we have is a group of mostly poor/inconsistent players who after this season will sign for National League relegation fodder or in the leagues below......something ''excellent'' players wouldn't be doing. Maybe "good" would be more appropriate: Romain, Cassidy, Robinson, Powell, Davies, WdH, Wishart, Paxman and Turgott. Phillips when he gets going. Now from this list of "good players" you have compiled how many of them can you see staying to fight our way out of the NLS?

Daveu check out Oliver,s tweet about last nights game even he thought we were rubbish, now if he slates the team then maybe you were watching a different game.

I think Dave was watching a video of an old game against Halifax in which we still lost. The only bit of quality all night was when i was watching one of Halifax warm up drills pre game. There was a spell in the first five minutes where we put four/five passes together and i thought hello we might have a decent game to watch but that was just a false dawn of what was to follow.

And I think us fans have had more than our share of broken promises an false hopes for this season. Week after week we get the usual comments about how we tried to win etc etc an thanking those of us that travel up an down the country, but we have to have hope an a belief, and sadly the only hope this team gives us is NO HOPE.

Get the ball, panic, wack the ball away. On no account look up first or try to pass to another player (at least not one in our colours). And definitely do NOT try to control the ball, bring it down and pass or run with it. But, what's the point anyway, when we've got no one who knows how to score. What makes it more frustrating is every week before the game and presumably during every training session they do one touch passing drills in triangles. Yet the moment the whistle blows the ball becomes a poison chalice.

Phillips, Robinson, Powell and Paxman, even Romain, can all do it if they put their minds to it, but they cant be *rsed. Ama-new-Lozar may be able to do it if he has the ball at his feet instead of having to flail at a yet another high ball like a newborn Giraffe trying to stand up, and the old Lozar certainly could, as could sicknote Flish back in the day, but not sure about the rest of the current squad. We need those upcoming NLS/Bostik Prem players with the fire to take on the opposition and go past them in NLS next year.

I wonder what on earth JS said to the players he kept on the pitch as the JWW emptied last night? It didn't look like a roasting, so was it an Uncle John chat to save them all topping themselves? I would have loved to have bee a fly in the centre circle.............

We need those upcoming NLS/Bostik Prem players with the fire to take on the opposition and go past them in NLS next year. The REALLY frustrating thing is that they CAN do it sometimes (usually when we are losing and the game is nearly over). Maybe not everyone sees it, but where we sit (EE of the MS), we do see some brilliant football at times. But, of course, it never results in anything, as either the final ball into the box is shite, or it's good, but there's no one in the team capable of turning it into a goal. Maybe if we did score occasionally (especially first), that would be enough to take these odd flashes of quality and turn them into a decent performance? Turgott might be the catalyst we need, but he won't be back until it really IS too late. We could end up having a classic end to a relegation season, with the team playing their socks off - and everyone saying "why couldn't they have played like this all bloody season?!". I still bear the scars of the last DiCanio season at West Ham, when, as well as having DiCanio, we did the double over Chelsea, had several England players in the squad, and topped the form table for the last half dozen games. But still went down.

Beehave, just a simple typo, must have had ants in my pants.I'll stick insect to keeping my mouth shut and beetle off to back to my lady bird to see wasps for lunch.
Also be good to hear from the fan JS was trying to fatherly reassure on the touchline after the game as to what exactly the great man said, and for someone to leak a sneak recording from the dressing room as to what Hakan REALLY thought of last night as I don't believe he meant a word of his PC post match interview.

Also DaveU needs to read the match report in the Halifax local rag - very honest, described both teams as lacking quality, finesse etc - particularly in attack- and both playing like the low position they are in.

I really don’t know why JS took this job on! A thankless task!
I would liken it to taking over a back marker race car team! Let’s say touring cars. Let’s say it’s a popular team like Ford, but he has not been given a race ready car, but a standard road car with all the sponsor’s stickers on. He is stuck with drivers who are average and can only improve the car using the Halfords brochure and value tyres from Kwick Fit. Sometimes a good team could give us some scrubbed tyres they don’t need or an out of form reserve driver. Yes the team could win if every other team crash out on the first lap, but the odds against success with a rubbish car and no real way of getting anything in to improve it are stacked against us! Next year we get to build a car from scratch for a compatition where the cars are slower and cheaper to run!
