3-0 against anyone is a good result so notes let moan at the standard of opposition. For a bunch of supposedly tough northerners they were a bunch of pansies falling over and clutching their heads st every opportunity whereas the only person really injured was Walton laughably taken outby the worst keeper to wear a Stones shirt in many a year. It was nice to see Richards come on for 4 minutes and get an assist ,not bad for a player that only I seem to rate. Stockport away will be tougher than this but we have a goodish away record so we have a fair chance . Only 880 fans bothered to turn up which is pitiful but as we all know should we get to Wembley we will have 20,000 fans who have not missed a game all season.

We played very well tonight. The ball was on the floor much more and our passing and control was excellent. On form like that we could win many games in the last part of the season. Real heart and effort. My one gripe was Henry in goal! He made two mistakes that could so easily have cost us two goals and again his kicking was very suspect! Other than that a very good team performance. If he continues to play like this I would like to see Lewington given the shirt. Needs to sort out how he deals with crosses. I've never liked keepers whose first instinct is to punch. He didn't even need to come for the one where he took Walton out, but having come he's got to catch it, and if you do punch it's got to go high and long. Both his punches were downwards. Decent shot stopper but dodgy as hell with crosses. Did he catch the ball even once? Looks like a player with promise, but he gave me several heart attacks. Definitely need someone who can instil more confidence in goal. But good game tonight - men v boys, but at least it was our way round for a change! Good result though - in a competition we never did well in, even in the old days (I was 34, the last time we were in the 1/4 finals!). But the atmosphere was weird - it felt more like an early round of the KSC. Salford must be pretty confident of going up. But a win is a win, and that's DDW in our last three, so hopefully that will boost confidence in the next league game (about bloody time we won at Bromley!) And Stockport might do a Salford - their priority this season is surely promotion, and I doubt if they have a strong enough squad to try to go for both. So, you never know - this could be the first time we get further than the 1/4s...

An easy win against a load of youth/reserve players. On to Stockport and another game I'd like to go to but can't!
Just worked out the record in games I have attended this season.
W 6 D 3 L 4
Not a bad record considering how bad the season has been.

Did Salford leave all their decent players at home? Very weak side, two of them made the bench on Saturday, the rest very much B team. However the record books will show that we beat Salford 3-0 in a competitive first team fixture, so who cares what team they put out. 2 rounds (3 games) from Wembley but it's gonna be a lot harder from now on. You can bet your life Stockport will take it a lot more seriously. Absolutely correct, of last nights team only Keeper Crocombe ( # 12 ) was a non playing sub & # 20 Dieseruvwe came on after 61 minutes against Braintree on 9th Feb - that's all.

If I was the FA, I'd be a bit miffed about that. Are there any rules governing this sort of thing? (I remember Man U (?) getting into trouble for something similar a few years ago.) Or can you just play any registered players?

Felt a little like the KSC semi-final last year against Bromley - they put out the youth team and is was a question of what margin the win would be.
Despite that, played some nice football and kept the ball well at times. Romaine-Powell-Paxman linked-up well but difficult to judge the newer players, although the goalkeeper didn't look too convincing at times.

Not quite sure what you're doing with your quoting Porky. You seem to have attributed your reply to a quote by me while completely omitting my post that you were replying to

For years people have been saying we can go a long way in the Trophy, we might meet a National side who put out a weakened team... finally it happened. £8000 prize money too. Not complaining.

The last time we scored 3 or more goals in a competitive match at home was on October 8 against Dover in the Kent Cup (again against a weakened side) but you can only beat what’s in front of you. The last time we won a competitive match at home by 3 or more goals was when we beat Hendon 4-0 in the Istmian charity cup on August 1st 2015.

Porky - how did the two Salford teams compare? Were they basically the same players, or was last night's team even less first team than last week's?

The quoting routine has gone barmy! I was (I thought!) replying to a post of Porky's (the one that starts "Absolutely correct") - although now I look back, it appears to be DaveU who said that!
Just to make things clearer - The above post was from me, not Porky, asking him (not DaveU) a question relating to his (Porky's) original post.
Or perhaps not...

Just in case it somehow gets wrongly attributed again this reply is from daveu . The post starting "Absolutely correct" was Porky's reply to my post about there being only two players in the lineup last night who even made the bench on Saturday, which was in reply to an earlier post asking if they fielded a weakened team.
