Considering we had a brand new back line and no recognised Strikers up front that we deserved to win the game should be a huge boost. Ok it was a weakend Salford team but we had the above problems as well
I think we should be more optimistic about our chances going forwards.

"Not sure what last night tells us about the replay but if Salford take it seriously and play their 'first team' I suspect we'll still struggle even with Cassidy back. But what do I know? I thought last night was going to be another defeat just waiting to be recorded." Logically (for what that's worth in football), if they weren't bothered about the first game (playing their '2nd team'), why would they bother risking their first team on a long mid-week trip (and the dreaded 3G!)? The fact that they played a 2nd string team last night, in a cup that is (usually) high priority for non-leagues sides, would indicate that their focus is very much on the league and promotion. Of course, it could just be that they expected us to be crap, and therefore their 2nd string side would be able to do the job, without bothering their 'league' players. And, now they've seen us put up decent fight, they'll take the replay more seriously. But, if I were them, with their aspirations (and money), just three points off the championship, I wouldn't take any risks with my first team squad. Personally, I'm more worried about the fact that it's at home... Are you as miserable and boring in the real world as you are on this forum? If the answer is yes, I pray to God that I never have the misfortune to stand near you at a game. As boring, quite possibly, but miserable?? You're the last person on here I would have expected to have a sense of humour bypass...

Right - who's cup-tied for this?
Or, possibly a better question, who, of the players we'd like to be playing, isn't cup-tied?

Cassidy not available I believe because you have to have been eligible for the original game to be eligible for the replay. Or does that only apply if the original game is postponed like Maidstone v Histon at Ashford 2009/10. The fixture between Maidstone United and Histon was postponed in December due to a waterlogged pitch and rearranged for 15 December. This match, however, did not go ahead because of a frozen pitch and neither did the third attempt at playing this fixture on 22 December. The match was then scheduled to take place on 5 January, but this was also postponed due to bad weather. The match was then scheduled to take place on 12 January, but was subsequently postponed once more. The game was eventually played on 19 January, resulting in a 3-0 win for Histon. However, on 25 January, Maidstone were re-instated in the competition after Histon were found to have fielded an ineligible player. The player hadn't been signed/registered on the date of the first game back on 15 December.

Did Salford leave all their decent players at home? Very ordinary. Good to see us get a few crosses in.

However the record books will show that we beat Salford 3-0 in a competitive first team fixture, so who cares what team they put out. 2 rounds (3 games) from Wembley but it's gonna be a lot harder from now on. You can bet your life Stockport will take it a lot more seriously.

Reports say Salford played mostly youth and second string players. However, you can only play what's in front of you, so 3-0 has to be a real positive - the nil as much as the three. A quarter final to look forward to. Strong opposition, but who cares? Going forward, we can only hope this rubs off on our league form. In an ideal world, we need to win the next three and then some...

When the shirt numbers are in the 40s, you know it's not the first team. But we played like a team tonight.

We played very well tonight. The ball was on the floor much more and our passing and control was excellent. On form like that we could win many games in the last part of the season. Real heart and effort. My one gripe was Henry in goal! He made two mistakes that could so easily have cost us two goals and again his kicking was very suspect! Other than that a very good team performance. If he continues to play like this I would like to see Lewington given the shirt.

I've never liked keepers whose first instinct is to punch. He didn't even need to come for the one where he took Walton out, but having come he's got to catch it, and if you do punch it's got to go high and long. Both his punches were downwards. Decent shot stopper but dodgy as hell with crosses.
