Are we going to be disappointed ? Some weeks ago I seem to recall that we were told by the club that his wage expectations were too high. The impression was that his loan deal was partly funded by Hartlepool topping up his pay. Here we are at the 11th hour and Hartlepool appear to be saying that the Stones are backing off because of Cassidy's wage demands. Clearly more going on but there seems Jake may yet escape the Stones net. If he is getting greedy then we don't want him as he will only be here for the money.

To be fair to Cassidy if we are not offering him enough to come all the way down here I don’t blame him! If he has a mortgage and bills to pay and the amount it will cost him to travel up and down to see family, it all adds up. I realise he could be provided a flat to live in, but again I would suggest that is not free, but will be taken out of his earnings. I live in hope, but the return of Mullins suggests Cassidy is not en route to us

The longer this saga goes on without any formal announcement from the club the more I believe it wont happen at all. And swords right we only really want players who are prepared to give 100% every time they play we have no space for wasters any more.

Our dilema in the NL - we can't afford to buy/pay the players we need.
Much as I would have liked to see him back, I'm not sure he was the answer anyway. If we're goingto splash the cash it would be better on someone with a decent scoring record at this level.

And the problem there is I dont think there is anyone who has a decent scoring record at this level available and within our budget.

I imagine Philpott and Mullins it is then. I think I would prefer Pol Pott and Mussolini

Personally, I would have thought that Mullins would have been an option for us to aim at instead of seeing Robinson and Romain run millions of miles chasing tails but I guess there were other issues with Sham and I'm sure JS and HH know what they are doing. New keeper, new defender is good, but a new striker would be good too!

Be patient my old friend I,m sure Mr Still an Co will be hunting through the available players looking for a striker good enough to come in an hit the ground running.

And Sham who wasn’t good enough for us or for Daggers is now in League Two. Football is definitely a funny old game indeed!
