I think the ultimate fate of this debate will be decided by the fact that the rich clubs can afford high-tech grass pitches, rather than the poorer clubs needing 3G. Especially as hybrid pitch technology becomes cheaper and the number of clubs able to afford it increases. As always, money talks loudest in football.

Bit of a leap to say 3G will never be accepted because one, (shit) footballer in Scotland doesn't like getting beaten on them. Not really if you look at the fact that manyfootball associations across the globe are beginning the process of outlawing the surfaces from their competitions on health and safety grounds you can see why they will never be accepted plus the Lord God almighty Martin Tyler doesnt like them so that is that they wont ant to antagonize God. It’ll be nice to see our old mate Martin Tyler back at the Gallagher this coming season, this time with the Darts and his ‘other half’ Dowson
