Does anyone know why we replaced the original 3G pitch early? It had an 8 year shelf life, but went in about 4! Having played on the old and new at the Gallagher I preferred the old pitch. Did it not meet the NL requirements? I’m sure there was a valid reason, but we were short of that money we spent in our first season.

Yes, the old pitch wore out long before the projected date and so there was no choice but to change it

You say "not much more than interest on the loans" Are you sure ? I understood the loans were interest free, but perhaps not. As for getting their money back, I would have thought that will only happen when they sell some equity in the club. It is illegal for company directors to charge interest on loans they make to their own company. There is no way Terry and Oliver will be adding interest to their investment.

The huge lumps of money Oliver and Terry invested went into the separate stadium holdings company. You won't get any clues as to whether they've paid themselves anything back by looking at the club's accounts. I can tell you from looking a while ago that they do not appear to be paying themselves anything back.

£340,000 sounds about the cost of a replacement pitch? Or the balance on the new stand? You would think the new pitch would show up in stadium accounts. What with the healthy return on investment.

It was in a terrible state - just check out the Stones TV videos late that last season. Mind you, the new one is starting to look a bit ropey in places - and it looks really odd on sunny days when the sun is low down. I'm starting to suspect that the expected life the manufacturers quote is based on it only being used every other Saturday.

Well the manufacturers wouldn't sell many if they said it was shit and won't last 10 minutes would they.
