Looking back to the days when NWS said we shouldn't talk about it seemed then that virtually every away game came with story of happenings other than the 90 minutes of football. Either before or after the game there were incidents ,good or bad that made the days out enjoyable or miserable but mostly memorable. That doesn't seem to happen so much now and it has all become so sterile and predictable. Where are the murders ,The stabbings,The helicopters parked in the centre circle. Where are the fancy dress days,The hat boys,The right back falling through a pub roof . Where are the burning cars and used syringes around the grounds , where are the opposing mangers who accidently punch there own wife in the face causing play to be stopped to mop up the claret. This professional league is just so boring bring back the chaos,The stories,The entertainment and the fun. These are the "good old days" sadly they have gone forever. Forever is a long time my friend but i hope that perhaps the good days m ay return some day for a whole new generation of Stones fans. I loved every minute of the wilderness years and we have 2000 fans who just do not know what they missed. One away trip to a sarf london shithole could provide more entertainment and controversy than a whole National league season and atrip to Romney Marsh could end up with supporters disappearing never to be seen again probably eaten by the inbreds of Lydd or sych places.

Agreed! I'm sure that those of us who were there had far more fun than the fans of other clubs who spent 20 years pissing about the back end of the football league. It's a desperate shame how it came about, but, for me, the journey back has been far more enjoyable than the destination.

Odd atmosphere in the ground for that one for sure. Due to an evil reputation for players stuff getting nicked from the dressing room wasn't Pete Norris + a n other put on guard outside the changing area to stop interlopers ? Not heard that but it would not surprise me one little bit as Leyton was a desperate club in dire financial trouble and their squad probably went unpaid so the odd villain helping themselves would not seem unlikely. The club folded not long after this game . some of us were in dire trouble after a few beers in the local, and then foolishly taking on the burger hut, Christ I was ill for 3 days, but I must have lost a stone....

Mr Sword, do you vaguely recall us dropping into a pub on our little stroll to Tonbridge, shame the bastard would not open the door though? ?

I don't but I think it was the Royal Oak as I have been told since that the police advised them not to (a)not open or (b) not to admit any Msidstone fans as we are a load of no good nasty BASTARDS. As you know the Royal Oak in Tonbridge is my local and the landlord and landlady have told me all of the police restrictions for when Kent's super power arrives in town and unfortunately they have to abide by the old Bill. Should we play them away again I guarantee the pub will accept the black and Amber army๐๐๐

Always a gamble doing the Thamesmead away, if you took your car, there was the real possibility it might not be there when you went to go home, or there may be vital parts of it missing, go by train and you face the terrifying walk through Abbey Wood,

I enjoyed the days when the Wolves were touring the fourth and third divisions, out-singing the home crowd and watching Bully pump the goals in. Best days of my Wolves career. But I've moved down here now. Much more prawn sandwiches than Tennants Extra.

What matters in descending order: Ground Owners Manager League we're in Attendances Number of posts by JDL (Rearrange if you want) We've come a long way. Rubbish The fun we get from it The experiences (good or bad) The memories The friends we make It does not matter where the club plays, who owns it or who the manager is if its not fun then what's the point
