The club is in a tricky place and the next decisions are critical. Having read the programme today it is great news to hear that the Boss Bill Williams will be back at the club after today and after his hip operation. At times like this we all have opinions of what should happen. For me there is only one question to ask..
"Bill, what needs to happen now?"
He is the most experienced football person at the club.

I’m hoping BW wasn’t a smokescreen as today we looked no different. For all the open training day smiles etc it was literally no different.
I’ll wager if we lose on sat TL won’t be here much longer

Hopefully Bill tells the owners we need a proper manager.
Sorry but I'm not sold on Tristan being the person to sort this shambles. People seem to have suddenly forgotten that he was Wheelers number 2 so is just as much to blame for this mess as Harry.

I have to disagree on that point - Whilst I clearly don't know that Tristan (& Simon) are the answer , it is crystal clear to me that they do not represent 'more of the same'.
They may or may not achieve the very difficult task of keeping us up (the same is true of a 'miracle manager' from outside) but I personally think that they are the best hope for us to rebuild and deserve a decent run at the job. It's obviously though a gamble, as are all decisions, in a month's time it will be too late turn around our season, but for me they are best placed to make good use of that month.

Unfortunately I think today is the day that signals that we are doomed to relegation. No reflection on Walton and co but we are still clueless as an attacking force and with Cassidy leaving things are not going to improve. 1st half was a spirited effort but there is always the feeling that it is only a matter of time before the other team score and we can’t respond. Let’s get a proper manager in and recruit and build for next season in NLS.

The most important man at the club is your Manager. We simply can't afford to recruit on the cheap this time, The best man available is a must even if it affects the playing budget.

I thought today was still better than under Harry or Jay. The team spirit of BW was still there, the players worked for each other, at times there was some excellent passing football.
The only difference was that we didn't score. Had we got the first goal, I think the three points would have been ours, and the reaction on here would be very different. OK, we let a goal in, but all defences will, no matter how good they are, and ours looked pretty good most of the time - and had we equalised, I'd have still been pretty happy with the game. 4 points out of every three games is safety for us.
But we didn't, because we can't score goals - the odd one from our 'forwards', yes, and one or two from elsewhere, but no reliable strike force, in fact pretty much no strike force at all. Whoever takes over, has to sort this out asap - if they don't, we're down.

I still think we need to give Lewis and Walton a few games, but we also need to allow them to augment the squad. Defense looked good but we are fucked if Phillips gets injured, and we need to recruit a decent target man to replace Cassidy and someone to provide width from midfield.

Quite agree (and Phillips had another cracking game today) But what you're saying unfortunately boils down to "we're OK, but we need 3-4 better players". Which is exactly what we were all saying before Jay went...

But TL openly disagreed with HW in interviews and was the vocal one from the dugout. With Bills help let’s see how TL and SW sort out HWs loaner mess and who they get in to shore up a team with potential. Did anyone think we had any pedestrians in black and amber today? I thought there may have been a couple, in which case they need to go too. Still lots to do for the management!

Worner played the ball out to Phillips a couple of times today, but as he looked up we had a absolutely no width! We started the game again with four central midfielders. When we lose our loan players we are very short all over the pitch! I believe we need a right back, left and right midfield, at least one striker and another central defender, oh and a keeper, oh and a manager 🤷🏼♂️ When you step back and look at our situation from outside the club it all looks pretty bad. Nice to see over 3000 at the game today. If we stay up and I pray we do it would be against much greater odds than our two previous escapes. To answer the title of the thread, Bill will do his best like he always does with the long game in mind and not an expensive short term risky fix.

For whatever reasons, we are either not holding on to our best players - be they attack, midfield or defence - while most sides seem to be able to recruit and prosper. Geography an issue, as is money. History too. Once a long term manager leaves, they are rarely replaced effectively first time round. Man Utd after Ferguson, Forest after Clough, etc. I'm still not convinced Wheeler did recruit a decent squad and the concensus that we are short (almost literally) in midfield and attack seems to agree. It's a gamble, but another round of recruitment in management, midfield and attack seems essential if we are to avoid relegation. If so, I fear we are not looking at a quick return. IF, and it's a big if, we win the next couple of games, then the idea of someone like John Still brought in to support Tristan and Simon may have some merit. However, for all they deserve our support, I fear they lack the experience to do well in this league.

Didn t John Still retire last week. I d actually give them a chance now for the rest of the season to be honest see what they can do.
Hard to believe that we need even more players having brought so many in but I guess that was the mess that HW created.
A few Neanderthals on the Dover forum are having a right go at the plastic pitch. Definitely one of the quieter away fans we ve had at the Gallagher.
