I think Still was there last night weighing us up for Peter Taylor for Saturday. If he was, by the time hes finished giving PT his assessment, I cant see him being enthused to manage us!

Yes it could have been nicer to give SW and TL to season end but the owners are being cautious which is unsurprising after the Wheeler Dealer disaster so we just need to keep getting points and results to keep them there. I think itβll happen and I donβt think there is a quality Messiah who could takeover from them in January and keep us up. Itβs the squad that needs sorting - get our loaned out players back, make sure our loaned in players stay to season end, and maybe one or two new signings tops as appropriate with SW taking to the field if need be. Can you clarify about bringing our loaned out players back, Mullins, coker and wynter are the only one's left out on loan, everyone on here has already said that mullins and wynter are not good enough and Coker is just too greedy and too predictable runs in three opponents loses the ball and doesn't track back. Please explain how these players can help us with our relegation battle.

If he was scouting he sure as hell wouldn't be in the directors box. Also he still has some kind of "upstairs" role at Barnet so he wouldn't be doing anything for Dagenham.

Walton got it spot on in his interview.
If we consider the matches under his "management" then the first 45 minutes (plus the bit where we let in the fourth) against Maidenhead was a blip. OK, they took their foot off the peddle and we scored one back, but we played so much better then. We could have got another couple if panic hadn't set it. If, if, if.
In my view George and Wassmer had a shocker and it was Ross's first home game against National League opponents and he wasn't good. Jarvis was all over the place in the first half, but excellent in defence in the second. Taj was excellent when he came on and solidified things. I reckon he would be a good captain, leaving Will to organise the defence.
We do need a big guy up front. Mullins isn't the answer. Maybe they should lay out for Cass.(Let's start a petition to request the owners bring back Cass or else we will boycott the food bars.)
Anyhow, disappointed as we all were last night, I'd like to see Walton given the chance to manage us more long term. He's fresh, new, experienced at the top level of playing, not afraid to say it how it is and looks to be a motivator.

He's fresh, new, experienced at the top level of playing, not afraid to say it how it is and looks to be a motivator. Nothing wrong with Simon Walton's interview. Honest and realistic ! George Mac did have by far his worst match of the season but strongly suspect he wasn't fully fit following his injury. Wassmer was a waste of time, Ross was poor, could and should have done better. Agree about Taj, strong, hard and aggressive, every team should have one. I hear on the grapevine that Cass wants back, but money is the problem (same with Shields). Now this is my biggest worry - that the Stones will not pay the going rate for the type of player we badly need. For me Cass is worth 2 of any midfielder or defender or any other striker we have, come to that (other than Turgs). If the owners are not prepared to sanction premium wages for a couple of players that command that level. Then sadly National League South beckons, we will not be able to maintain our current status without digging deep Still living with some hope but feel that the Dags match is our last chance saloon.

Please explain how these players can help us with our relegation battle. Lozar and Efete should have come back to JWW, but we missed that boat. Ok, let me explain my reasoning - Wynter, although good NLS standard at best, and someone I was happy to see loaned out, if he came back, MAY be more committed to MUFC, and better, than up and downSwaine and Wassmer (Also isn't Wassmer a loanee? I lose track!). Coker I felt was a promising young talent to be developed, and surely better having him on the bench than academy players? Mullins seems to be a man with issues so probably not him, but there again as we seem to have no money, and no appeal, to attract a big striker even bringing him back to give him one more chance may be better than no big striker at all! That's my logic. And also the fact better to have contracted players in the squad than more temporary loanees with no passion. Yes, you could argue our own returnees may be too P*ssed off at being loaned out to have passion for us again, but that would be up to SW and TL to suss out when talking to them about coming back, surely? Of course in an ideal world we wouldn't even be having this discussion about getting our loanees back, let them go for the very reasons we loaned them out in the first place and get in new quality, but we have to be realistic as it seems due to our predicament (and budget) we are unable to attract good players right now, in which case better to have sub-standard loanees back than academy players and a thin squad. As I have said elsewhere, a relegation battle brings injuries and suspensions, so although not ideal, returning loanees would provide cover of sorts. Its far from ideal, but it has to be all hands to the pumps - that's my point. Otherwise you and I best take our boots to games just in case!

As much as I like Cassidy as an all-round striker, he's not exactly a goal machine. In fact, i think that Mullins is on the same number of league goals as him - two?

According to Transfermarkt, probably less up to date than Wiki admittedly, we actually only have a handful of players, less than five, on contract beyond July this year. Therefore, regardless of where we finish, some pretty substantial recruitment is required anyway. If we stay up, you'd hope we'd bring in better quality in all areas. If we go down, most won't want to stay and we are looking at possible part-time again, anyway. The gamble on replacing Jay with Wheeler has completely failed, whichever way you look at it.

The Dealer gamble has more than failed, it has caused destruction, toxicity, and created deep morale, money, squad and footballing problems which are going to take all season to unravel - if at all - until next year. Its why we are where we are. I do now actually think that Jay and his squad, even though he had reached his limits tactically for NL, would have done better than where we are now - I think we would at least have been just above the relegation zone. All Jay may have needed was a League Two NL experienced DOF to develop him, but we will never know, and that ship has sailed. Yes, whether we stay up or down, next season is a whole new ball game, maybe new Manager as well as most of the squad, but our focus for no has to be on survival as we have no idea yet if the wholesale changes from May 2019 will be to prepare for NL or NLS next year.

Sacking Jay and bringing in Wheeler to "give us hope", was the Stones version of Cameron's decision to go for a referendum to heal the rift in the Tory party*. What could possibly go right?
(*never going to happen - they did for Heath, Thatcher, Major and Cameron, and they'll do for May, just as soon as they don't need her any more)

Tamplin "sacking Wheeler" - I smell a rat. Job done. Russians visiting Sailsbury to see the famous Cathedral - I smell a rat. Job almost done. Conspiracy theorists discuss.
