Ok for 20 mins, playing the ball quite well, until the final pass, when we gave it away, though at least it was in the other half... Fine strike for their first, but truth be told we stood off and invited it. Stuffing then knocked out of us and we've been shite since, standing off again to allow another long range strike. The ref is on one again and somehow think we are never going to win playing against twelve. Time for the mother of all half time talks, Harry, otherwise it's bye bye.

Has anyone seen any reason so far this season why we should keep Harry past today? Improved fitness and some “Good signings” for me is far too little.
Diresctors we all make mistakes and no one is judging you! People will however judge you on how you deal with those mistakes

I wonder whose fault this will be (by the way, Bill, with all the absolute respect we owe you, I chose not to attend, not because of what you posted, but because I felt I had better things to do).

Unbelievable start to second half. At least six decisions go against us for SFA, then our latest centre half pairing (sic) combined to give them their third goal. Come to the Gallagher, where it is Christmas every game. EEnd now chanting 'we're f**king shit'. Maybe a complete bloodbath is what is needed to get rid of Wheeler, especially as Paxman and Muldoon have been subbed. So still no centre halves then.

Loza has scored another two goals so far this afternoon for Woking, at Billericay to add to his hat trick last week. Surely we need to get him back in ASAP when his loan ends

Where to start? First of all, have to get this out of the system. In the pantheon of useless, openly biased referees, today's was up there with the worst of them. The slightest infringement from Stones, they get a free kick, indeed there were numerous occasions when we did nothing wrong and he still gave them a freekick, while multiple shoves in the back on our players went unpunished. As usual. And let's face it, we are bad enough as it is without the referee playing for the opposition. So, where are we? Bereft of confidence, for sure. We don't have a decent final pass, not at least until we are three nil down. We were hopeless playing the long ball, we are not much better with a passing game, mainly because there is so little running off the ball. These things are tactical, what you work on in training each week. Therefore, either the manager and coaching staff are to blame, or the players aren't good enough, or both. And who brought in these players? Walton actually looked ok at times in the first half, his distribution much better than of late, but without seeing the highlights I couldn't see who it was (undoubtedly two or more players) who stood off for both their first half goals. After that it was shades of Eastleigh at times and then we gave them the third, which certainly was a mix up with the centre of defence. I could claim to having changed the game, by moving from the EE to the touchline, but actually I was making my way to the gate, intending to stop off and hear what was being said near the dugout. No matter, it worked and we suddenly scored twice. After that while bringing on Swaine was a decent shout, surely not for McClellan, who had just scored, is fairly tall and can head a ball. Better replace someone shorter at that stage, you'd think? As it was our last chance was a header from our keeper, who will no doubt be playing centre forward at Dover. No idea what Wheeler is up to and fairly sure he doesn't either. Don't we have a sports psychologist on the coaching team? If so, he is a waste of time too. At the moment, it is hard to see how we are ever going to win at home in the league. Time has run out. Wheeler must go and we need to recruit someone with experience at this level to replace him.

We are playing in a quality professional league which we were lucky to get promoted into after a season in the South in which we deserved to be high up but not to go up. We have only escaped relegation through a good start right at the beginning in this league, the appearance of Piggott, Reece and Lewis when we were heading down, then they luckily stayed (with Hines coming in) to give us a parachute start last season. This season was started with a mediocre squad who are now mainly National League Division One players (yes, Loza can score in that league, how many did he get in this league last season???). The players make mistakes but the squad is a damn sight better than one that started this season. The performances are better. The luck has deserted us at the moment. But it will come. And yes, the refs don't seem to like us, but let's avoid that because it could happen to any team and we are all partisan.

Wish I shared your optimism. One only has look at the effect of a change in management at the other MUFC to see how a new personality can galvanise what were already decent players into a quality performance. This is what we need at Maidstone. Wheeler has spun the permutations, but simply doesn't have what it takes. If he did, we would be winning games by now and we aren't. Time he was moved on.

Nothing will come , please wake up . you keep saying the squad is better , but is it . its not its full of journey men that go between clubs looking for the best deal and Couldnt give 2 Fcks about Maidstone. The squad last season had a real bond and fought for each other and for the badge . This lot don't give 2 fcks and will just move on when the time is right.

Strange game. The first twenty minutes, saw lots of the ball and got in attacking positions and the idea of playing two midfielders and two overlapping let-backs as a Back Four (although wasn't entirely clear what was happening) seemed like a crazy idea that might just work. Robinson misses a one-on-one and they go to the other end and a great strike makes it 1-0. The second was shocking - completely went to sleep from a corner and I think Walton was still shouting at no one in particular when they struck the second. Despite this, never seemed out of the game and a goal wouldn't have been a surprise. However, bad mistake and then its 3-0. Strangely, Gateshead didn't seem to know what to do next and two goals and I thought it looked like an equaliser was inevitable.
Certainly wasn't another Eastleigh-type loss but it was a loss nonetheless. Yes, the squad is arguably better but at the moment the whole is less than the sum of its parts. Not playing any true centre-halves seems deliberately contrarian and, I'm afraid Pax and Muldoon didn't look great. Cassidy at one point was getting the ball in our own half from the defence and Romain was on the end of some crosses, which isn't ideal.
All in all, HW may have a better squad but it doesn't matter when you fail to make the most of it.

Dave, I don't think last season's squad was any more loyal than the squad we have now. Why do you think they were?
