Just got a work email from a lecturer at Wrexham Glyndwr Uni: "First things first It looks like Wrexham V Maidstone will be on again next year, we have imploded from what looked like a guaranteed play-off place to mid-table obscurity" - beats talking about higher education textbooks!

Personally really hope Sutton blow the play offs simply because if they go up and rip up their pitch can't really see 3g pitches being allowed in football league in the foreseeable future

Not really because as it stands at the moment there is insufficient support for 3g pitches in the football league hence no vote on the issue this summer

I'm quite chuffed to as my lad lives just around the corner from Glyndwr

Among the general football supporting populace hardly anyone will notice they had to rip up their 3G pitch, even fewer will care, whilst grass pitch purists will be pleased. In reality it is a nothing issue to most fans, only the few clubs that have 3G think about it and obsess about it, whilst away fans are only interested in it as an excuse if their team loses on it. As for the anti-3G officialdom and anti-3G football clubs, Sutton bowing to the grass pitch rules will be seen as a victory against 3G. I think a short or medium term change in the rules for 3G is now dead.

I think unless the fa takes responsibility and tells the EFL it has to allow 3G it's more than the short to medium term future of 3G that is dead. The EFL has no reason to allow it and whatever we might like to believe it's highly unlikely that any legal challenge would succeed.

Does the FA have any locus (I'm in Latin mode today) to tell the EFL anything? In fact, what IS the FA for?

I'd have thought that, given 3G is now so widely used in senior football around the world, there'd be a 'restraint of trade' issue here. But I guess the Brexit madness would probably kill off that possibility...

I've heard Brexit blamed for a lot of things, but not lack of 3G in the EFL!

They forgot to slip the lithium in JDL's Horlicks this morning. Don't worry, double dose this evening.

89th minute winner for Havant & Waterlooville sees them coming up and condemns Dartford to the playoff lottery.
