Coker has some of the trickery of Hines, but definitely more of a team player. A couple of times yesterday he went on runs hoping for a pass that never came. But I think he can easily adapt to the slower pace of the National League.

Can't really recall another Stones player so effective without the ball.

He made some great runs but his teammates were far too slow to realise and by the time they had realised Gateshead defence had also covered over. I don't think it's him who needs to adapt it's the rest of them otherwise what is the point in signing a good player who can do things others can't if you're just going to hold him back. The other problem he had was he got out wide and was looking in the box to pick out a pass but there was no one there.

My impression was he was less than pleased with the robust attention he got from the usual Neanderthals (their number six notably - the one who tried to get Paxman sent off), but second half especially, stood up to them and showed he knows a bit about buying free kicks. For me, the pairing with Loza is the one to watch as they get to know each other. As for players working off the ball, Lewis is the one for me- always available for a pass and Paxman did the same too. Maybe he was trying a bit too hard though, because he knows there is competition coming in?
