Gelt, green men, filthy lucre. The higher echelons of football are awash at the moment it seems, none more so than AFC Bournemouth, now in the top thirty richest clubs in the WORLD. All this on average home gates of less than 10k. Now, they still have to manage that wealth and we all know how fickle football is, but in the top 30, in the world? Little Bournemouth and Boscombe Athletic, how times change. All down to TV money of course, but now seems that breaking into this exclusive club is getting ever harder and big city sides like Leeds, the Sheffield's, Villa, Sunderland, Forest etc must be rueing just how much they now miss out on because they got it wrong a few years ago and are out of the Premier league. Equally, 'smaller' sides like Burnley, Watford, Bournemouth etc are cashing in. Southampton are in the top twenty for goodness sake! Ok, well done them, but where does it leave everyone else? On balance, I think I am happier supporting my local club who are going about things by hard work and good management, where success or otherwise is not just a case of having (very) deep pockets. A couple of million quid to complete the ground would be nice though...

Just shows that at the top level you have to be in the Premier League, end of. Sadly, this provokes more axing of managers if things are going wrong, can't face the prospect of relegation.
This money needs to work its way down the pyramid, but I guess with money in for Pigs for example, it is doing so.

Anyone any idea how much TV money L2 clubs get, and what the parachute payments are for relegated clubs?
Also, how much of this money (if any) trickles down to our level? And what do we get from the BT deal? (Looking at our accounts, it can't be much!)

That's an amazing stat about Bournemouth. In Spring 2009 I went to a "loser goes down with Chester" game at Dean Court, AFCB v Grimsby. Some teams have got a million or so from Cup runs - Exeter, Burton, Havant & Waterlooville... yes, some spent it better than others. Not sure what Lincoln and Sutton did with their earnings from last season but both seem to be doing well. It'll take more money for Maidstone United to advance - what the balance will be between transfer fees, cup prize money, BTTV money, sponsorship and advertising, extra sugar daddy, 3G usage revenue, who knows. Those figures about our profits were really encouraging. I think everyone needs to accept a good few years at this level, enjoy the cup runs and the ground improvements. Being mid-table is unfamiliar and not very exciting but it's still a good season overall. Becoming a contender for promotion will need a change in 3G policy, going properly full-time, and having about 18 players of the quality of Hines / Pigott / Finney / Collins. In other words it's years away.

I see that Ronaldo (the fat one) is looking to buy an English championship club. Do you think we could persuade him to invest in our club instead?

Just read the reports on the club's financial state after 5 years. Profits are still rolling in at over 200k annually with players wages only about 30% of income. Seems that all profits are re-invested in infrastructure development What a well run club. What a fantastic business model.

I suppose it depends on what you want from your club. Personally, after the roller-coaster of the last twenty five years I would like a well run club that I can go and watch when I have the time, money and inclination to do so. I'm somewhat puzzled by anyone that believes piling up the leagues to a level of big money, high prices, scrambles for tickets etc is a nice place to aim for. Still, each to their own though.

There are some people on this board - but more so on the Facebook group - who seem to think it's a game of Football Manager and we need to be in the Champions League by 2025...

When I was last playing Football Manager (2008?) Chris Zebroski (he who should've got at least 3 yellow cards on Saturday) was a useful cheap signing IIRC.

The key financial stats will be next year's, because I'm thinking that most of the 200K profit will be gobbled up by 'full time' wages. Need crowds to move forward for MUFC to make money with our new ' full time ' status.

Just googled the fella Interesting that the below website has him down as a 'career break' from April 15 www.transfermarkt.co.uk/chris-zebroski/profil/spieler/37004However it would appear that 'career break' was down to being locked up for robbery and assault! Maybe the ref knew his history!
