Wandered down the Gallagher with about fifty others to take in a Crowborough 'Home' game this afternoon and see what they had to offer. Pleasantly surprised by some of the skill on offer at times. Also a nice surprise to see Zac Attwood in the Crowborough forward line up. Must say though, he had a quiet game, and didn't look up to his best. Along with my son and his friend, we at one point had the whole of the spitfire lounge to ourselves, keeping the bar staff busy requesting a latte, coke and crisps. Mind you, if you think the swearing is prevalent at a stones match, it was nothing compared to this very vocal lower league encounter!

Did a similar thing myself - a few old Stones on view, in particular Zac Attwood leading the Crowborough attack & Adrian Stone fronting up for Glebe. Game ended 2 - 2, and Stoney definitely won the battle of the strikers with a volley from inside the box after a corner kick and a towering header into the corner from a cross out on the right to put Glebe 2 - 1 up at half time. All of those clever Adrian Stone flicks, headers & deflections we remember well were still in place. The Crows had a lot of the 2nd half though, and equalised near the end. Game seemed to fade away to me in the 2nd half, maybe fatigue on the part of the players. Have to agree about the swearing. You could say that because of zero atmosphere you could hear everything said on the pitch, but the Crows keeper in particular had a fine grasp of 'industrial language' . Still, if you can't make Stones away it's nice to support local SCEFL football.

If you want to support a local team in the SCEFL how about going along to watch either Bearsted or K Sports, they are our local teams! Have been to watch both lately (can't always make the far away games) and have to say I've been impressed by both teams!

Funnilly enough I went to Bearsted yesterday to watch one of my local teams, Rusthall, who lost 2-0. If you're coming from the Tun Wells/Tonbridge direction remember that Teston bridge is closed at the moment and you need to drive to Barming and then cross the river. Very friendly club though, pity I missed both goals by arriving ten minutes late and my bladder needing the toilet just before the end! I still can't believe Sevenoaks are in such a strong position in what we used to know as the Kent League.

OK, a car will just fit, but how did you get round the railings at each end?

I also went to watch bearsted the other week, they played Canterbury at Deal, and won 1-0, since then I think they've won 3 more and are now in 3rd, albeit they've played a couple of games more. Conversely, Chatham are near the bottom

Chatham players now have a losing mentality. Good to see Bearsted have turn their season around.

How did Zac Attwood - the player who was worth all that money to Margate - end up in the Kent League?

Let's hope he stashed some of it away, because he didn't get it for long, and he certainly won't get it, or even what we were paying him, again. What goes around, comes around...

Come on, zac was hardly a stones stalwart or whatever it is called. Maybe he knew what was round the corner for him and it would be his one chance at a grab at some money for a short time?!
