Morning all,
I just want to put out a message to say cheers to the Maidstone supporter who stopped his car and also the traffic so thankfully nobody else was involved on Tuesday night on the M20 London-bound on Tuesday evening.
It all happened so quickly however the general consensus was that my car hit a pothole/bump in the road and a tyre blew, causing the car to go across three lanes and bounce of the hard shoulder barrier before going across the three lanes again and ending up coming to a stop after smashing back into the central reservation. Incredible how we didn't take anybody else out in the process and that we all managed to get out of what remained of my car walking and talking with only a few cuts, bruises and aches.
Anyway, I didn't catch his name as it was all a bit of a shock but I think he drives an Audi and I just wanted to say thanks, you're a top man. If he's on here/somebody knows who he is get him to drop me a message on here as if he's coming to the return game in December he'll need to leave the car at home and get the train/coach as there's five very grateful lads who owe him at least one pint each.
Apologies to any of you who got home a lot later than expected too, best of luck for the season.

Good to hear that you are glad you're safe and no harm done.
Two bits of bad luck (equaliser and pot hole) and two bits of good luck (no-one hit you and finding THE decent Audi driver).
Good luck for the season.

Glad you're all OK. The M20 road surface is in a really poor state, it make me wonder why Kent County Council don't pull their fingers out and do some genuine repairs before somebody gets killed.

Glad to hear that you're all ok, once the game is over and the rivalry calms down we're all just football supporters supporting our team and want to get home safely, good luck for the season ahead.

Local authorities aren't responsible for motorway repairs. That is down to the highways agency. Back on topic though, glad to hear everyone is OK.

Good to hear no one was hurt. That double crash and crossing all three lanes twice must have been terrifying.
I have been in similar accidents twice*, so I know what it feels like - terrifying, but also weirdly dreamike, as there's nothing you can do and you're just hoping to get out of it alive.
(*Weird for someone who hardly ever drives - but then perhaps that's why I don't!)

Saw something about it on your forum; I'm glad everyone is OK. Was once a passenger in a car on the M20, when something similar happened and we managed to pull over, then saw our tyre merrily bouncing along the fast lane.

All the best for the rest of the season.

Thy have started to make inroads, mainly on the coast bound carraigwways, but yes, it needs to be badly expedited, aswell as potholes, the road surface is not performing its function in terms of anti skid / grip

Glad you are OK and it was only bumps / cuts, more than glad to have helped.
Didn't see the crash and nothing worse in the cold light of day, pulled up behind you seconds after and it was pretty horrific, and you were pretty shaken quitely rightly, being stranded in lane three with a car missing a wheel in the dead of night is not much fun.
Disappointed that the Police took so long to arrive, over 25 minutes I think, I did ring them Thursday, and the only answer was they had more pressing needs at that time, although I think yours was pretty pressing albiet minor injuries as it turned out . Also got a ticking off for stopping live traffic!
Will definately be at the away game, and happy to catch up and have a couple of festive pints with you all, however as the game is during the festive season on top of that may I request three points as I leave the ground

Well done, Senna.
I broke down in the 'fast' lane on the M20 once (not as weird as it seems - I just happened to be in that lane in slow moving traffic, when it stopped completely, when it started moving again, I stalled and couldn't get the van to start again.
Anyway, apart from it being a pretty terrifying experience once the traffic got up to speed again (the electrics had gone, so I didn't even have hazards - but at least it was day), the point of posting this is that a Highways Agency Range Rover was with me almost immediately (before I'd even had time to call anyone) and they stopped the traffic and pushed me onto the hard shoulder (they weren't exactly happy with me).
It was only then that I realised that it's not just the police who patrol motorways, and it's actually the HA who are responsible for getting the traffic moving, clearing the road, etc. I'm not at all clear where the line is drawn between the HA and the police, but it's worrying to think that someone broken down in the 3rd lane, at night, with a wheel missing, and having had a pretty terrifying accident, is not regarded as high priority by the police.

Raised the point of Traffic officers and police response was they can advice them only not insist that attend immediately.
It is concerning, maybe the real result of cut backs that such services are not just stretched but at breaking point.

Hello redarmy. I see on your forum someone is asking about programmes and ticket stubs. If you are a member, could you let them know our club shop advertises programmes via mail order. www.maidstoneunited.co.uk/product/aldershot-town-programme/Failing that, if they have run out, I have a somewhat creased programme I would be happy to post if supplied with a name and address (can't help with the ticket stub).
