Got my season ticket today still lots left . I reckon it will be between 2500/2700. Not bad still as a lot of people are on holiday and I know a fair few watching at the pub rather than going to the match . I think being on TV has stopped it being a sell out. However, still 3 days of selling left yet . I would actually love to watch it on TV but I'm not gonna turn down actually being there, but it makes me understand how people who don't go every week could happily choose TV over going to the game.

To an extent, but there is no atmosphere watching a match on TV, whereas at the ground.... oh, hang on a minute.....

I'm on holiday. Does my season ticket count towards the attendance? Yes, so the 1100 or so that we have sold will always be on the final total. So we wont have a league gate under a 1000!

Look in context of previous seasons openers. What was the attendance for the first games in previous seasons although capacity has increased the first game has never been a sell out and 2500 - 2700 should blow away previous first game figures

.. and better than the 6 Div 4 meetings between the sides, looking at the themaidstone.co.uk piece.

with any luck the lack of a sell out may discourage the club from going for all ticket in future
it seems to knock hundreds off the potential attendance
(other than for derby matches and bank holidays)

A season-ticket holder will have already "bought" their ticket for a particular game, whether or not they actually attend.
The same could be said of pre-purchased (non-season) tickets, e.g. for all-ticket games, where the purchaser is unable to attend and cannot sell-on or give away their ticket.

According to their forum, some tickets allocated to players have been returned so their total is now down to 287.

Really not too shabby seeing as it's a long journey, for an early kick off, for a game that's being shown live on television. Good effort from the York lads. Hoping they bring their flags...

I wasn't making a judgement, although some of their forum members seem to think it's not a great response. With the season starting so early while people are still on holiday, and as you say with it being an early kick-off and live on TV, I'm surprised so many are making the trip.

Any options for those of us abroad? I doubt the local bar will have BT and wifi is intermittent at best.
