I'm already looking forward to a Boxing Day match that doesn't involve a trip to that toilet of a ground along the road from Folkestone. That will be Eastbourne Borough then.

Ricay lost again today - one more and they could be out of the play-offs. Couldn't happen to two nicer blokes. Even more OT - Gate won again today, and are more or less safe, so well done Jay. It's going to be interesting to see what he can do next season (especially with two Jack Paxmen! And DH are looking safe too - looking forward to visiting Champion Hill again (please don't let the fixture be in August or on a bloody Tuesday!). What a s--t manager Saunders is - only 2nd in the form table, and has not even got the Gate into the playoffs yet, lets face it, he hasn't got what it takes, and is just not good enough. Now where's my wooden spoon? This post should have been on the non National league thread - rebel I am. Oh hang on, correction, it looks like Weston-super-Mare are going go be relegated from the NLS. Shame as it would have been a good August away fixture in the sun.

I'm assuming brackets indicate minus figures? If so, although you say the debt has decreased, more money appears to be owed than last year (i.e. the minus figure at the bottom is bigger). Assuming I've got this right, does that mean the purchaser has to clear that figure (e.g. if they were buying the club last year, they have to pay off £715,756)? You'd never guess my first wife was a book keeper! debt indeed did decrease (you did note that for accounts the most recent year ?)
| 2018 | 2017 | Creditors due < 1year
| (499,389)
| (780,418) | Creditors due > 1 Year
| 0 | 3,344 |
|
|
| Net Liabilities
| (412,249) | (715,756)
|
But you'll see that the retain losses increased from £5.1m to £5.9m and they only covered these additional losses and brought down the debt by issuing £1.1m of new shares (ie the owner bank-rolled them).
Also slightly interesting (!?!) that trade creditors (included in the above numbers but normally classified as 'debt' ) increased from £17k to £170k, so whilst they may have reduced their debts, they had substantially more outstanding bills to be paid at the end of May-18 than the year before.
Seems to me that any buyer for '£1' needs to stump up at least £2.5m on top to get them to the end of next season - unless something changes.

Intersting to see what's happened at the bottom of the table this season.
For our first two seasons, the bottom 4 as early as the end of September (about 15 games in) has been a pretty good predictor of who was going down. For both seasons, 3 of the then bottom 4 have gone down - and the bottom 4 has stayed pretty much the same all season.
But this season it's been a lot more volitile, with clubs coming and going, and two 'definite' relegation candidates escaping - but still 2 of those bottom 4 clubs, back in September, are going down. Even that early in the season you are pretty buggered if you're down the bottom.
(Although, on the other hand, you can just ditch your manager and bring in the Devil Incarnate...)
Bottom clubs 29/9/18 (played 14):
17 Bromley 18 Maidstone 19 Aldershot 20 Chesterfield
21 H&W 22 D&R 23 Dover 24 Braintree
Bottom clubs now (25 games later):
15 D&R (1) 16 Chesterfield 17 Boreham Wood (1 18 Maidenhead 19 Dover 20 Barnet (4)
21 H&W 22 Aldershot (1) 23 Maidstone (1) 24 Braintree
(games in hand)

Incidentally, if anyone looking at that table thinks H&W have a decent chance of putting Dover down, this is the bottom of current table by points, not place:
49 Hartlepool 48 Bromley (1) 47 Halifax (1), D&R (1) 46 Chesterfield 45 44 Boreham Wood (1), Maidenhead 43 Dover 42 Barnet (4) 41 40 39 38 H&W 37 36 35 34 33 32 Aldershot (1) 31 30 29 Maidstone (1) 28 Braintree
(nicely illustrates the shit we're in too...)

Anyone else left with a nasty taste in the mouth seeing over half the current Dover team who are recent Maidstone players climbing away from the religation places!!? I assume they are on similar money to when we had them! Even more proof that the correct players and not just more money can bring success! I believe out of Bobby Joe, Reason, Lewis, Worgan, Lokko and Pavey only Lokko left the club in the lurch! The rest in the most part left because of the clown or because Jay didn’t want them.

This could be an interesting season in the NL, as there are currently five non-league teams in the play-off positions - the highest number there's ever been.
It's a rather depressing stat that only one ex-non-league club has been promoted to the EFL in the last eight years - FGR, two years ago*. Every other promoted team has been a returning League club.
So this could be the season that hope for non-league clubs is renewed.
Although, of course, if Orient and Wrexham go up, it's business as usual...

Makes you wonder what would happen to Sutton if Doswell went. With him in charge they've played way above their level - just how much of that is down to him?

Reading the Sutton website re Doswell spotted their prices for next season in the National League. Adults £17, concessions @ 60+ £10.
Season ticket renewals for adults £149*, that's under 9 matches to be 'in profit'. Ignoring comparisons with us, how do they do it?
* perhaps bizarrely 'Concessions' have to attend 13 games to be 'in profit'.

Personally I think he should wait for the Ricay job, get rid of the whole squad in less than three months, spend way too much money on journeymen and has beens, and set them up nicely for relegation from NLS and then leave them in the lurch before going back to the Gate as DoF. Or has that been done before?

Says Does well is only having time off till July. Given he doesn't get paid a salary, one assumes he could do this anytime, if he chose? Probably one of the best long term managers in this league.

Could you imagine Jay at a moneybags club, they would probably rocket up to L2 in the blink of an eye, or 2 seasons, whichever is the shortest. #wheelershite

You can start the 'Paxman to Margate' rumours now.
