Didn't we actually have Carew for a short while back in the Sittingbourne days? Or is that my (usual) false memory syndrome (which I'm hoping to apply to the Brexit farrago once it's all over). We did, he was very young and on loan from the Gills if I remember correctly I must say, some superb memory / detective work here, I'm awestruck . He played a couple of games for MUFC between 13 and 16 October 2004. Who would have known then what a long & satisfying non league career awaited.

I don't do detective work, I either know it or I don't, I normally cant be @rsed to look anything up! The trouble is, that bit of info is keeping something out of my brain I probably need! Probably how I get home!!

There are always exceptions, particularly younger, ambitious players looking to move up the pyramid, but am guessing the majority of players are happier being part timers in the lower leagues, with NLS their practical limit. Even here, the greater travelling will be too much for some. Many are capable of playing higher - they certainly have the skills - but don't want to commit to the full time training, or take a chance on what might be a very short career in football. We know this from some of our own favourites, notably Mills and Flisher of recent times. Hence it is also a risk for any club signing players from lower leagues to NLP. Most of those trying to make a footballing career are signed up early by league clubs and hope to get a chance that way, even though they may be third choice like our latest loan keeper. For me, this is the better option. Good point - and yet another reason why the NL is more like Div 5/League 3 than the top of the non-league pyramid. And yet another thing we didn't realise on promotion - recruiting players at NS and below is an entirely different matter to NL and above. But the inevitable conclusion from this, is that this season isn't unusual - from now on the norm will be EFL rejects, EFL players on their way down, and ex-EFL players desperate to get back (who won't be around a minute longer than necessary). A constant churn of players whose hearts (and minds) are elsewhere.

Boreham Wood have released a rather bizarre statement Tw**s . Brilliant idea. Club with hardly any fans decides to alienate half its potential fans. And in that part of London probably more like three quarters of them.
