The food hut certainly couldn't cope... 'Maidstone? They bring about 30 away don't they?' - 30 minute wait for food? A serious loss of revenue there...

Yes mike, that was a shame, I bumped into that meerkat guy at the start of the second half who told me about the half hour wait. Sod that, even though it meant I went without eating all day, food is overrated anyway. Only other gripe with the place would be the lack of beer. That said, they're far from the only place at this level that doesn't sell draught ale, and I'd imagine there'd be a lot of wastage if they did given the home support. Decent setup other than that, cracking clubhouse. Anyway, best leave it there or daveu will be upset that a thread about Whitehawk has turned into a thread about Concord

I got accosted by the same guy A decent clubhouse as you say but no draught Guinness!! And when we ordered both Fosters and 1664 had gone off... Nevermind, hope it's better at Whitehawk! Talking of which I think we have a decent chance against them. We seem to dig deep for the big games, Gravesend for one so not unduly worried... * Back on Whitehawk thread now

No reason to totally reject the idea, maybe we have a 20% chance. We have picked up 3 points from quite a few close matches, winning by the odd goal. Winning by the only goal would be more accurate!

On past experience, the Cup changes everything. If we do well in the cup, we always seem to stutter in the league afterwards (applies to most clubs, probably).
Then there's suspensions, injuries at the pitches deteriorate (theirs, obviously), Christmas, etc, etc.
If there's one thing I've learnt from watching football all these years, it's that the early season form is NEVER maintained! It doesn't seem that long ago that we were considering Gosport as serious play-off contenders and Gravesend looked untouchable - and we were having a 'settling in season' and having to face the thought of losing quite a few games.
Having said that, I found myself listening to Stones Live yesterday without any of the usual apprehension about away games, I just assumed we'd win. Even when we weren't playing well and they scored, I still expected us to win (even after all these games when we've only scored one goal!) This is very worrying! I tried to snap out of it and get some anxiety going but it just didn't happen...
