Even on our current average, we comfortable beat EVERY attendance in the Conference South. In fact our average is higher than any CS club's MAXIMUM attendance! Not quite so good in the CP - we'd be about 10th. But, when you consider that the top 6 attendance clubs are all ex-FL, that isn't bad - especially as we beat the average attendance of Barnet, the current leader (whose highest attendance this season has been only 2,088). If we could increase our average to 2,000+ once we're in the CS, we'd be about 5th or 6th in the CP - in other words, the highest of the 'real' non-FL sides. Interestingly, even our current average is above six CP club's maximum - including Dartford, Dover and Welling. could you define "real" non-FL,or did i dream it? I thought I'd get picked up on that! I meant ex FL clubs that had been relegated to the Conference - as opposed to clubs who have always been non league - or clubs like Barnet, who, although they have been in the League, had previously (recently) been non-league. So, I suppose, I'm drawing a line at the point where automatic promotion came in (87?) - clubs that were not in the FL then (even if they have been since) are my 'real' non-league clubs. Not as picky as it sounds, as we're only discussing attendances, and relegated FL clubs tend to have much bigger gates than ex-non league clubs, even if they've spent a while in the FL. Basically, we can't hope to match the gates of clubs like Bristol Rovers, Grimsby or Wrexham (at least not in the near future), but we can feel proud of having higher attendances than supposedly 'ex-League' clubs like Barnet or Kidderminster. I hope that makes sense!

Don't forget we are ex-league unless you're also excluding re-formed clubs.

The ex-league clubs to which JDL was referring were all (I think) relegated to the Conference. We are ex-league because we folded, so are a different kettle of fish.

I knew I should never have started this!
I meant that we (and Barnet, etc) are 'real' non-league clubs, with brief periods in the FL, but clubs like Wrexham, Bristol, etc are really FL clubs, who are just 'resting' temporarily in the Conf. So, whilst we can judge our progress, attendance, etc against the non-league and ex-non-league clubs, it's pointless to do it against the ex-FL clubs, who have historically much larger attendances.
Unless, of course, they happen to have lower attendances than us!
As for 'phoenix' clubs (like us), I don't regard them as any different than the original club. Wikipedia has us and the old MUFC as different entities, but is there a Stones fan anywhere that doesn't think we are still the original club?

I don't. We reformed and started a new club. Thus we are not the same club.

Excuse me, nws. Are you really hoping to wind someone up to start another "are we, aren't we the same club" discussion? It got pretty boring last time after the first three or four pages!

Wonder how attendances will compare to last season. Or last time we were in NLS.

I don't think it matters too much what league we are in; if we can get a few wins at home early on, the crowds will increase.
In all fairness the crowds didn't drop massively last season... we need positive vibes this season and I do think it will be a happier place.
