We could have been even on GD with the champions elect if we hadn't stopped playing. Utter rubbish!

We were poor second half, but how often does that happen. Even the so called champions elect have been streets ahead by half time, only to take their foot off the gas. It happens at all levels of football. But to call us utter rubbish completely ignores the first half so as usual you're talking out of your backside.

Due to a work related engagement ... and checking my phone to update myself on the score ... I couldn't believe my eyes when the half time result came up ... 4-0 to us ... I managed to get to the stadium just as the teams were kicking off the second half, I was prepared to see us score a few more goals, especially after I was given a running commentary by the chap standing next to me ... I must admit that I was slightly disappointed with the showing in the second half and in the end we even gave them a flattering outlook on the result by gifting them 2 goals that their work rate just about deserved. We must put these kind of games out of sight and more, at least we are not drawing these games yet, like we did last season. Again I will say that we have a stronger side physically than last season ... but do anyone else believe that we are short on quality ? ... especially in the third half of the team ... For what I saw , Frannie was chasing balls that he couldn't get to, his passing was very wayward ... but he still scored 2 goals albeit against a very poor goalkeeper in the canvey team. The lad needs a rest and someone to come in to push him if he has the desire to do so. Having said what I felt personally and stand by it, I was pleased to see us back winning after last Monday's result and we are back on track bitting at the heels of the "Champion elect", so I see some of you think. C'MON YOU STONES !! ... We are playing Hornchurch on Tuesday night, let's avenge the result from last season at their place and keep them firmly rooted at the bottom of the League, where they shamefully occupy now. No need to ask, but there will be a few of us going again, probably more than their own supporters ... so let's make some noise and cheer our team to victory !!

I cannot pass comment on "the third half of the team". Too much is usually said of the first two halves

It's the fourth half that really bothers me.

Although IS and SL have done in a more blunt fashion I will help you out. Look at when I posted and see if I was at the game. Secondly look at Shatty's thread. It is a shame you chose to get all gobby at the end considering the ragdolling I gave you on another thread. I think you secretly enjoy it

No need to ask, but there will be a few of us going again, probably more than their own supporters ... so let's make some noise and cheer our team to victory !! This really was a game of two halfs FrenchStone and what you saw second half in no way reflected how good we were before the break. I agree that in the first half Canvey were poor, but you can only beat what's in front of you and we played some really good stuff and could have had more. Quite frankly we did put the game out of sight, as at 4-0 at half time it was game over. With regards quality in the final third, I disagree with your thoughts. It's rare that on the occasion you score 5 someone says we don't have enough quality in the final third! First half we looked really dangerous with Frannie, Flish, Bodkin and Greenhalgh opening them up at will. Personally I thought Frannie looked as sharp as he has all season (particularly 1st half) and I think that rather than a rest, Frannie's actually catching up on his fitness given the time he missed pre season. After his 2 goals today and 5 in 7 so far this season I'd like to see him keep banging them in.
Man of the match today though had to be Flish who was outstanding and looked lively whenever he got on the ball. He won his fair share in the air, never stopped running and was dangerous throughout. You'd have to say his performance playing up front today was a bit of a revelation as he was out of position and his goal was brilliantly taken. A special note has to go to Jack Parkinson who was excellent also today and handled himself brilliantly given some of the recent criticism. Fantastic performance and showed why he's one of our best players. Great reaction by the fans to him and hopefully he's in no doubt now that 99% of the fans are behind him. Overall a great reaction from the team following defeat on Monday and I'm thrilled to come back from holiday to see the squad looking in such good shape. COYS!

Fancy being more gullible than Dave U! As the help has not been taken and this is directed at me, can I ask why it would have been heart-breaking for me to hear the fans chant Jack's name?

I arrived 5 mins before half time (busy day) and saw Flish's goal and watched the second half. Canvey were very poor and it sounds like we took our foot off the pedal from the first half. We conceded two sloppy goals but 3 points are 3 points. Was a little confused with taking Mills off and putting Rogers at left back, was that an injury?
