Yet another mention of Margate, sorry been reading this forum and i am bemused at the infatuation and snipes! Our attendance was a big improvement on last season and will only get better. Good result for you guys, will make for an interesting battle for promotion. Suppose the infatuation is only the same as the threads about us on your forum and you reading our forum and commenting. Having said that I don't blame you for reading our forum as there doesn't seem a lot going on on yours this evening now I've looked! Seriously though, will be a good battle this year between our teams, but others will be involved too. I thought 700+ wasn't bad at all for you today, could make for some interesting games between us if good numbers travel, just wish we weren't at yours on a Tuesday night.

Apparently this was our first day one win since August 2008 ( 2 - 0 at Heybridge ). Get that, just couldn't believe the negativity after only 30 minutes and a lucky goal for the opposition. That was one among many heckles. For me being a supporter involves not shooting down the team on the first day after 30 minutes. As it turned out those who did looked very silly. There were still some who couldn't take anything positive from a win. The bloke in front of me said it just papered over the cracks. Not sure what the team has to do to please some people.

Papered over the cracks, really come on! You've just got to laugh dave or you cry at rubbish like that on the first day of the season. I'm very optimistic as last year that would likely have been a draw. Plus no one's mentioned Plan B after today's turnaround. A good effort and the lads can put their feet up tonight after a job well done.

Who spotted the part that Sonny played in Mays goal a bit of gamesmanship that meant the keeper lost concentration. Brilliant. Good player as well. I think May needs some recognition held the ball brilliantly, good flicks and was a real handful. Took goal well. We would have drawn this last year. All positive for me, subs that made an impact. Roll on Tuesday coys

Nice start. Joint third (anyone fancy a name change to Athletico Maidstone?!). Typical summer Saturday attendance though, I'm sure the figures will improve.
Tonbridge att: 430 - crap for a "big club". Their fans must have been a bit miffed at that 90th minute goal too - they'd have been top without that.
Early games mean little, I know, but Kinstonian going top with 5-2 win away at Enfield is pretty impressive.
Margate's result doesn't look too clever on paper (3 booked as well), but a win's a win.
I've rarely looked forward to a season as much as this one. Can't wait to (eventually!) see the Stones!

Oh yes plan B today we did have one today and it did work. First half plan A hit into JM head and it never really work as we couldn't keep the ball. Second half plan B hit into JM feet for him to hold it up and it worked a treat as many players could join in so credit where its due for this game changing tactical change.

A good solid start, good first 20 minutes then they got a bit lucky with their goal and our heads dropped a bit. Obviously a better second half with 3 good goals that all needed some work to be finished as well as they were. Back line looking more solid than last year and I'm glad Alex Brown started with JP. Both strikers getting a goal is great and will hopefully start them on their way to 40 or so between them this year. Downside for me was the reaction to going a goal behind from people. Sitting in the stand you'd have thought the whole season was over when they scored. Particularly couldn't believe the bloke who yelled sarcastically 'yet another bright start to the season stones' after they scored. How unhelpful to the team can you be. Funny, he wasn't saying anything when we went 3-1 up! Sometimes I think people prefer us to lose! It's a long season and a win at home is the best start, hopefully a few more are encouraged to come down by the result as 1500-1600 is a couple of hundred down on the recent norm. A lot of people are on holiday - including our ex assistant manager.

The attendance of 727 seems very good to me. Can you tell me what your gates were last season?

Thought Jay May did really well today, lots of clever lay offs and flicks and an expertly taken goal. See Lynn, it wasn't just me!

They were things that were closed to keep people out and then opened when it was required that people enter. What a silly question.

In reality I think more firepower is required if you want us to win a championship We need a creative midfielder
