Totally the best news possible a huge well done to everyone who made this happen. Now how the hell do we finish above big spending Margate as them pesky playoffs are such a lottery. I would have thought beating the other teams in the league would be a good start

Sorry, folks - but I'm going to have to live up to my stereotype....All we actually have, in the statement, is an intention from the Conference Board to allow 3G.That is, essentially saying, the Board will propose adoption of this change to the Rules, but it shall still have to be voted upon (according to the Conference Rules, as they stand). So they can say to the Member Clubs 'we'd like you to vote for this' but there is no guarantee that they shall carry the vote. They are clearly waiting for the outcome of the FL's process, hence the reference to 'further statements in future' - if the FL vote for 3G in Leagues One and Two, in November, then opposition by the Conference would be untenable, and the Board could use that to lever the Conference Clubs (and carry the vote).
Hello Headstone - I'm sure you've, secretly, enjoyed sounding like me.... Seriously, though - I don't think the pitch standards issue is too much of a concern, as I would expect all sides to adopt the FIFA criteria.
So we have a very significant forward step on the journey - this from an organisation that was totally opposed to 3G just a few months ago.Indeed, the real disappointment is that the Conference Board give no indication of the reasoning behind their new position, so we have no indication as to what incentive/pressure has undoubtedly been brought to bear upon them.
We're not quite there yet.... The conference board have decided AFTER meeting member clubs to allow 3g as of next season. There is no vote

Just to save people the search - The Conference statement said: "At the pre-season meeting of clubs in membership of the Vanarama Conference for season 2014/15, an update was issued on the use of ATPs (artificial turf pitches) in the competition. "Following recent dialogue with the Football Association and Football League, the Football Conference’s board intends to allow competition matches to be played on ATPs, in all three divisions from the start of the 2015/16 season. "Such approval will only be given where surfaces meet the standards of installation and criterion for use, which are to be agreed by the respective authorities. "Further statements will be made as and when the standards and criteria are agreed with all our football partners, ensuring a pragmatic and practical approach is made when considering applications for their use at Levels 1 and 2 of the National League System and associated Cup & Trophy competitions."

And with regards to the pitch, the decision about quality is whether FIFA 1 star or FIFA 2 star is the required standard, so nothing for us to worry about there either

To back up what Ant has said, and as mentioned on here by Dave U and others on occasion, a vote is not essential. There is nothing in the Conference regulations that mandates a vote in these circumstances and it is clear that the member clubs were involved in the discussion. If we have misinterpreted the message, then so have a great many news outlets, Oliver Ash and the Sports Minister, among others.
By the way, I'm loving the term "fun sponge". Nail on head Trigger

"Such approval will only be given where surfaces meet the standards of installation and criterion for use, which are to be agreed by the respective authorities.
This statement, to me, is the key point and not one that should concern us as our pitch would meet the criterion set out.
And actually this statement in my opinion backs us up more than anything because the "injury" argument has often been proposed by those who have played on 3G pitches of a lesser standard than our fifa 2 star rating pitch.
Is there actually any information available out there of the number of 3G pitches in England that do meet FIFA standards. ie to put it bluntly, how many 3G pitches used by other clubs, including Dover and Ebbsfleet to train on have a 2 star FIFA rating?
The conference are rightly saying they wont allow ATPs simply because they are described as 3G, it's been very easy for the anti 3G brigade to compare apples with pears....and this statement from the conference will highlight that.

Here we go again, the biggest decision at our club for the last few years and the post turns into internal bickering about France.

Here we go again, the biggest decision at our club for the last few years and the post turns into internal bickering about France. Don't involve me in this. Merely pointing out that Calais.a doesn't live in France. I haven't called anyone a name or been rude have I ? No sir. Apologies if I've upset you in any way. And can someone tell me if the pitch is allowed in 2015-2016. Yes or no.
