“We trained on the artificial surface at our ground on Monday, mainly because the pitch was waterlogged, and we used the astroturf pitch at Wide Lane yesterday. “I don’t know if Wide Lane is comparable to Maidstone’s pitch, it might be a million miles away, but it’s closer than grass.” Bloody idiot. It is nothing like astroturf - and is everything like grass! (Just don't tell Rodney) Seriously, their manager is living in 1983!! Has he not heard of Google?! For gods sake man if you don't know about the pitch look it up! Good to see he's doing his homework! He clearly loves a bit of AstroTurf as he's got them training on it and then he starts talking about when he played on it!! My favourite though was the idea of bringing his team all the way to Maidstone to train on the pitch!! So unlike our good friend, as I can use google, I thought I'd check out where the nearest 3G pitch is to Eastleigh FC to save them a journey. You'll never guess where it is.........Eastleigh FC!!!!! If you want to send your kids they'll offer holiday football clubs where you can use both their grass and 3G pitches!!!!! Just completely laughable, but as their manager can't use the Internet don't suppose I've got to worry about any insult I might cause!!!

Let me get this straight, he thinks his team should be allowed to practice on the pitch to help them adjust, so does he actually think we allow all opposition teams to practice on it prior to their game, what an absolute chump

He may have a point IF his club didn't have a 3g surface of their own!

Let's forget about the pitch, that issue will rumble on for a while yet. It will be a hard game tomorrow, so instead bring an extra friend or work colleague to the game to cheer our team to victory !!. C'mon the Stones !!!.

I may be alone but think the bigger picture of 3g acceptance by the conference would have been better served by allowing them to train on it.
They would have seen how well it plays and be able to relay a positive message about it. Now they have a ready made excuse and can give extra voice to the nonsense of home advantage how it plays differently etc etc.
I agree that all grass pitches play different dependant on grass length, heavyness and general lay of the ground and away teams ofteb dont get to train in advance but MUFC and 3G4US would be better served by disproving the nonsense theories around 3g at every opportunity and as we dont get many Home draws to exhibit the pitch this could be a missed opportunity

If the pitch is booked for the academy side, any of the other teams, or being hired by somebody then I don't see why we need to make allowances for a team that already have their own 3G pitch.
Of course if they'd wanted to go through the formal channels of hiring it for a training session then I'm sure the club would be only too happy to take their money from them.

I have some sympathy for your argument, Mellow. However, it would have been tough on the academy to be thrown off it and would we be creating a precedent whereby every opponent could want a chance to train on it beforehand?

Team looks rather more defensive than the norm, presumably to make us more solid in midfield.

I dont like the idea of kicking anyone of it and i find it galling to have to educate the dinosaurs of the benefits of 3g but educate them we must.
As its the conference that must be won over and IF the conference view us as intransigient over this they may mistake our actions as attempting to gain an advantage in the game as to how the pitch plays where in reality there is none. The last thing we need to do is encourage the view of how the pitch plays and home advantage etc as this has been one of the main and consistent arguments against artificial surfaces.
I dont think anyone will win this argument for us.
Anyway just an alternative view
