***NB I don't want to rekindle the oldies-newbies discussion***...
... but at at the same time, we've gone from 300 to 1700 crowds. Are any of the 1400 newbies going to admit to being ex-Gills/Charlton/wherever?
I'm not looking for a witch-hunt, I'm genuinely curious as to where you've all come from as a lot of you must have been watching football elsewhere a year ago?

I was born and raised in Newcastle, so have supported and watched them since the early 80's, I have lived in Maidstone for 9 years and always promised that when the Stones did finally move back home I would get myself a season ticket and watch them, which is what I have done this season, i have watched all of the home games and a lot of away games (Total games attended 45) I still watch Newcastle on Television but only if it doesn't clash with a Maidstone game, Maidstone is now my club who I follow and support, I am hoping to get to even more games next season and looking forward to visiting some more new grounds

Here is one for you Oxford and anyone who can remember football rattles. I have admit to having one painted one side Blue and White for Gills and other Amber and Black for The Stones when I was last a kid , that is. I have a good excuse though - I was born in Brompton Military Hospital and my earliest recollection of going to watch a game of football was with my Dad and Uncles on the terracing at Priestfield in the 50's. When my Dad left the army we moved to Maidstone and I was allowed to go and watch a football game on my own and spent many hours watching games from the corrugated terrace on the Sharp's Toffee side of the ground in the 60's ! We had some GOOD songs then!!! Still 1399 Tony and Ox , I'm afraid , since I have not attended any games this season. I have offered to play in The Directors game , just for traveling expenses of course, but to date I have had not been signed up !!! Do I qualify as a New Oldie or Old Newbie ? Just a chuckle.

I was 12/13 years old when the club went under, like many of that age we were supporting the likes of Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal etc, I was taken to London Rd as a kid and went occasionally to Bourne Park over the years, like Frank i promised that when we got back into town i would shun the premier league and buy a season ticket and watch some proper football, haven't missed a game at the Gallagher yet and made it to a couple of away games, i love it and the new season ticket is in the post.

Thought i heard a story about some fans coming along with Gills scarves earlier in the season? I went from watching hardly any football, maye 3 or 4 Oxford / Swindon / Wycombe games a season, to 20 or 25 Stones games a season so I suppose my reasoning that the newbies must've been watching football regularly elsewhere, is flawed. (Just imagine if all regular posters admitted to flawed reasoning...)

I watched a few West Ham games 20 odd years ago and didn't really watch footy after that. Last 10 years or so, been playing golf on Saturdays. Moved to Maidstone in 2006 and started watching this year. Half season ticket last year, full one this year and lots of away games. Love it.

Quite a few on the terraces seem to be Millwall or Crystal Palace fans, with some Charlton fans scattered about too.

I went to a few games at the London road with my Dad. Once the ground had gone we didn't go to Dartford and I kind of lost any habit I may have had. By the time the club disappeared I was busy playing hockey round Kent and Sussex but did visit Ashford a couple of times. Having reached 40 my fitness levels have forced me down to the 3rds which means I stay in Kent. Home games easily let me get to the Gallager and several away matches. I didn't realise how many I'd be able to get to but now I know my season ticket is bought and paid for.

I used to make the fun trip to dartford on the bus back in the day. Was a slog but well worth it. Its been a long time coming back to the town and have got such a bug again.I said to the missus "it be nice to go down and watch a couple of games eh" after telling her about my youthful years in the terraces. Well those couple of games turned into nearly every home game and quite a few away days!!!! Il even be grabbing myself a season ticket next season and so will Mrs Smurf.....COYS Proud and happy as a pig in sh*t

This is an interesting topic you've started, Oxford. The majority of newbies (based on a statistical analysis of the posts on this thread) seem to be returnees ie new oldies, who didn't support us as nomads (that's not a criticism), but have welcomed us back to the town. As a result I've been proved very wrong about our attendances, which a year ago I didn't expect to reach 1,000 except on the odd occasion. What a season it's been!

I worked this out a long time ago, based on the amount of people I was meeting at games who used to go before we went bust. Hence, my playful pokes at newbies. Unfortunately some divvies turned that into something it wasn't

I went a couple times to London Road and also a few times to see The Gills but mainly I have just not really seen any live football since the mid 90's due to work, family, money etc I have supported Liverpool all my life and have seen them live a few times but I have been waiting to see my home team play at home and now since I have hit 40, I find I can now do that at long last.
