Should we keep a midfield with Lye/T. Olorunda and Phillips in the middle or should we go to a midfield with Brown and Stubbs in the middle?

Aaaaah now there's a question. Lye gave it away cheaply for me until the last few games of the season where he kept it simple and fought well and impressed generally. Brown has shown some great awareness but has been played all over the place and with different personnel and I thought looked less exciting after his return to the team. Stubbs has been impressive and I would love him in midfield but at the moment he is our best right back. And....gulp....whisper this....I don't rate Timmy O. He tackles late and gives away fouls and frequently gives the ball away. For me, these are the two pre-requisites of a midfielder (effective tackling and passing) so he would be for the chop for me. However, I'm aware I seem to be the only person who thinks like this so maybe I should keep this to myself.

When fully fit, T Olorunda is twice the player Lye is and should be a permanent fixture in our midfield. I think we need strengthing on the right though - happy with Stubbs there but not sure if he is the permanent answer - maybe Woolery can provide more consistency...

All the players bring something different to the team so i hope we keep all of them, there will be plenty of games this upcoming season and it will be good to mix and match, sorry for being boring.
Danny Lye is still a football genius

Why is no-one mentioning Micky Phillips!! He was absolutely immense in the playoff final and on his day he runs the midfield!

It will be interesting to see how things develop over the summer and who starts in Centre Midfield in the new season. I would also like to see Woolery given an opportunity on the Right as I think that he is a better prospect than Hill.

I'm assuming I'm the only one who doesn't rate Woolery then?

Nope, I am unsure about woolery, need to give him more time to see how he develops. I seem to be in the minority but not been hugely impressed with Hill either. I think we need to look at bringing in a good natural wide right player.

The thing with phillips is - as good a footballer as he is - he's not strong enough to be a holding midfielder, and not creative enough.

I thought Whitely was impressive. Should go back in for him. I honestly believe though that we have a strong enough squad to more than compete next year. Cant wait!!
