can you please tell me what we tell people from London, as your refusal to accept administrative boundaries to define geographical areas means that London does not exist. You can tell people from London what you like. Of course London exists, and parts of it are in Kent, just like the fact that parts of England (e.g. Isle of Wight) are not in Great Britain. Most people don't use current administrative boundaries - I've never heard anyone refer to Lenham as being "in Maidstone" despite the fact that it comes under Maidstone Borough Council. Similarly, most people refer to Gillingham as being part of Kent, despite having nothing to do with Kent County Council. I now feel that I have explained my position sufficiently, and have no desire to engage in continuing pointless arguments.

Bless you, SP. Your very existence means I'll never be the geekiest poster on this forum.

I see that you have now moved your position to one of current administrative boundaries. My references to London was based on the fact that it was formed by the Romans who were of course the first to form administrative boundaries in this country. Now you say that we should not accept current administrative boundaries can you please define what you mean by current administrative boundaries. You may not wish to continue this debate but you have certainly not explained yourself sufficiently.

For what it's worth I used to live in St Mary Cray and could see the Kent boundary from my bedroom window. I never put Kent on my address only London. Only those that were too good to live in London put Kent. After all it is the London Borough of Bromley
