Great to see. I am intrigued why though.
There were 1569 against Waltham and Hersham who came to see us loose the opening match of the season in a league below that of Margate. I didn't think we would see these people again yet the crowds just kept increasing.
Ok we have novelty value in the town, we are near the town centre, Maidstone are a big town, there is beer on offer and the players had a great season.
How much of it is to down to the Club trying to engage the local community as well though? For instance I was really happy to see people with learning difficulties involved in the Club, they were really enjoying the occasion on Saturday one of them was so proud to collect the corner flags. Liam Daish was saying on Radio Kent that perhaps that was one of the areas where Ebbsfleet had failed (in failing to engage the community).
Don't fully know but it was great to see so many people who care about this Club now.

the crowds Maidstone are getting are worrying supporters of other Kent clubs who know it is only a matter of time before we are once again the county's top non-league side, as we were throughout the 80s.

While crowds have been amazing this year, we should see how well they hold up next year before getting too hung up on attendances. Dartford had similar crowds when they first moved into Princes Park, but despite almost unprecedented success they have fallen back quite a bit, especially if you take out the Wrexham and Grimsbvy effect this year. If we can keep the levels up or even increase them for the next year or two the future will be extremely bright indeed

Since 1998 Gillingham has only been part of the Ceremonial county of Kent.It is not real Kent anymore.FACT !!.So Kent's best supported club is Maidstone United.

Kent without Gillingham (and most of South-East London) is simply an invention of a series of local government reorganisations and has nothing to do with what is the Real Kent. Ask residents of places like Bexley and Bromely whether they live in Kent of not and the vast majority will say yes. Medway is the same. Traditonally Kent stretched as far north as The Thames and as far west as London Bridge, and Surrey stretched west from there. Local identity has far more to do with history than administrative organisation.

So, to sum up, if you say you are from somewhere then you are, regardless of county/town borders and London Bridge is in Kent.

I thought london bridge got flogged to the yanks, that would mean if kent stretches to london bridge then it goes right accross surrey, hampshire dorset devon cornwall atlantic oceon and half way accross the united states america?

So, to sum up, if you say you are from somewhere then you are, regardless of county/town borders and London Bridge is in Kent. Not at all. I was just pointing out that you can't just throw away hundreds of years of history just because of local government reorganisations.
