The reason why I use gan and TA uses ganning is quite simply the way words are used in different parts of the North. In Newcastle I believe they use gan for go and ganning for going (TA can confirm). In Carlisle they didn't seem to make such a differentiation and used gan for both.
It gets more confusing if West Cumbria comes into play because they use gan for going and gar for go.

The only confusing bit is why you use it at all! You neither live there or come from there? I used to live in Gravesend maybe I should throw in a few Hindi phrases!

JT. I think that the answer to your post is that these Northeners are trying to educate Stones fans in how to buy a pint in Sunderland or Carlisle or somewhere up there in the ir local lingo for when we get back in the Football League !!!

The way Sunderland are behaving we might not need to get back in the league to play them

As a southern softie my main objection to Sunderland is their objectionable managers. Can't remember the last time they had one with a likeable TV persona.

They won't avoid the drop. With 11 players out on the right wing it should be easy enough to go through them
