Fair point yes build a team around him, but don't do it mid way through the season. That's all I am saying. Fair play mate, but the problems seem to be at the moment, Booth can't seem to get fit and stay fit, Draycott drifts in and out of games and isn't the strongest of tacklers and i am unsure why Ade doesn't get more of a run in the team especially after his performance on saturday, lets see what happens with the rest of the season

Are we not missing the point here? Stuart king was signed on a contract, one of two or three players who are on contracts. Therefore does that not make him a player for now and in the future?
How many more seasons have Booth, Ade and even Shaun got? Booth struggles to play any more than 60 mins when he s fit, has Ade played 90mins this season? Shaun still has it, but for how much longer? Draycott has been fit less than 50% of the season.
Surely best to get a class striker in now, thus giving him time to settle rather than expect one to come in when our ageing strike force is struggling next season?

Terrible first half/first hour, but always felt that if we could grab a goal then we could go on and win it. Can't agree with the general opinion about the two debutants, but they need to gel into the side. Hare doesn't look like a full back, and Greenhalgh was caught in the middle too often and depriving us of an outlet down the left. Ade's all round play when he came on was the best I have seen from him and bearing in mind we were shocking until he came on means he gets the MOTM vote from me I thought Hare made a few decent tackle when CDG had broken through on goal, and showed he had the speed needed to be effective. Once he settles in Tommy O will have competition for right back.

never known a player get as much stick as early as King......personaly I think that some of the people commenting on this board are a joke and should be supporting the WHOLE squad rather than picking on a player who whilst not setting the world on fire still deserves a bit of time.

.......and another point .............. if you really feel the need to criticise the team then look at the defence rather than the forwards because lets face it we look better going forward than we do defending!

Exactly my point I personally don't rate him but my point about being a waste of money is that money should have been used for other parts of the squad, and a message board is for everyone to have a view if u agree or not they are entitled to the there view

I am with Craggsy, and have said that before! I really hope King comes good honestly I do. And i agree the most important thing is for the club, the squad, the town call it what you want, is for Maidstone United to gain promotion this season. No doubt there will be changes to the squad at the end of the season no matter what and it will be interesting to see what direction the management choose to take in that regard but I would imagine the whole squad will be looked at in detail.

never known a player get as much stick as early as King...... See also Martin, Andy. A player with bags of talent & skill but because he didn't show "passiun innit" he was ripped to shreds on here despite creating well over 50% of Luis Cumbers goals. He also wasn't a lovely, lovely boy (see also Lacey, Aaron) so people weren't willing to cut him slack over any failings.

the money should have been spent on a weaker area, I was wondering what your view was, because I hadn't yet come across it in this or any other thread. As for the signing of King, I think he's a good player of the Takaloo variety, who needs to be paired with someone who's going to battle and give him service. That may be Shaun, but they will have to get used to each other before we can know that. King definitely showed touches of intelligence and class at times. As to whether we should have signed another striker, I'm ambivalent. We already had an abundance but on the other hand you don't get many chances to sign good strikers and our others have had injury/fitness problems this season.

This is no doubt but the strongest and best point anyone has made since this situation has arised well done mate I have to admit I have myself been slightly critical of king in the past but I took it all back after Saturday because me and my mate saw he looked quite upset with himself after the game so we stayed behind for abit and instead of jumping on his back we told him "keep your head up mate and keep going!" Whilst applauding him and I think little things like that will motivate and help him more than repetitive criticism, support and shout for your team when were winning but more importantly support and shout for your team even MORE when we're not COME ON YOU STONES!!!!!

Total balls, mate. How many saves did Derren make? Apart from the two goals and the two admittedly glaring misses at the start of the second half I don't remember Derren making a save, while their keeper made two decent saves from King, quite apart from the sitter he got stuck under his feet in the first half. I admit CDG were the better side but we still had more shots on goal than they did. Derren certainly made one save in the second half but generally they missed their chances and Derren was nowhere near them. You seem to be clutching at anything. They should have buried us. If you think we ran the game second half get a recording and look at how much possession they had after we scored our second. Look at how much time they spent in our half after we scored our second. You will then realise that we didn't run things second half or first half. I'll grant you that for the little bits in which we did force something we created something but if you believe that we should have, on the balance of play and decent chances, done anything other than lost then you either know little about football or you just didn't absorb what you were watching. We escaped with a point.

.......and another point .............. if you really feel the need to criticise the team then look at the defence rather than the forwards because lets face it we look better going forward than we do defending! I said we struggled to defend a couple of weeks ago and Mr Binz was most incensed. We need a centre back with pace because we are getting caught with the same thing time and time again. Ball slipped in behind us and striker outstripping the defenders who are nowhere near him. The problem goes when Mills plays centre back because he has pace. There is also the problem of the defence being exposed by the midfield getting caught out. We have real problems defending as a midfield and defensive unit. It's great that we have 30 quality strikers who can rescue us but the cracks are beginning to show and it's Dulwich on Saturday.
